What is the diagnostic principle behind Detecta? The metabolic waste products of bacteria present in the oral cavity, when exposed to fluorescent light, emit light of different colors.
The clinician simply needs to point the handpiece toward the tooth, and based on the type of fluorescence emitted, can reliably diagnose the presence or absence of carious lesions: green light indicates healthy surfaces, while red light indicates the presence of caries.
